Job Overview

Crowder Consulting are a professional business of consulting engineers, software developers and data analysts. As an SME we are positioned in a niche area of the water industry being able to offer our leading Water Network Management System, Netbase, to water operators in the UK and internationally, along with our engineering consultancy and data analysis services.

Our services focus on the planning, monitoring, analysis, performance, modelling and operational aspects of water and sewer networks. We’re based in Central Birkenhead (Merseyside), easily accessible with great transport links.

We’re looking for graduates to progress from Data Scientists, where a solid technical basis will be established, through to future leaders and managers within our organisation.

To start this journey, as a Graduate Data Scientist, you’ll join our specialist team working on a wide range of analytical and digital services projects for major water utilities across the UK and overseas.

You’ll be responsible for streaming and processing data to aid detailed analysis and reporting, and you’ll provide a statistical analysis of representative samples of data to produce cohorts of results for extrapolation.

You’ll be involved in assessing the impacts of data improvements on regulatory reporting which will inform key business stakeholders and drive data improvement activities. You’ll also produce project reports and contribute to presentations for clients.

As a Graduate Data Scientist, you’ll receive a salary of £20,000 to £25,000, level dependent on experience and qualifications, along with additional benefits including; employer contributory pension scheme, annual leave entitlement that increases with length of service, and the option for flexible working days.

You’ll be employed on a permanent contract, working full time Monday to Friday, 7.5 hours a day with flexible start times available between 8am and 10am, and finish times between 4:30pm and 6:30pm.


To be considered for this role, you will need:

  • A mathematics or related discipline degree
  • Detailed knowledge of statistical analysis and mathematical modelling
  • A highly analytical mindset

In addition, you’ll also need superb communication and organisational skills, an eagerness to learn and be highly driven with a proactive approach to work.

Although not essential, you will ideally have experience and the desire to develop skills in programming using open source software and NoSQL databases such as R, Python and Mongo.
