Net-Conn Tool

The Net-Conn Application is an external tool for drawing the network connectivity as geographical schematic. The schematic items comprise sources, treatment works, service reservoirs, pumping stations, meters, strategic valves, strategic mains links and district areas.

The Net-Conn tool is used in the Netbase implementation process, with the Config tool, to build the network information in the database.

The application enables attributes and relationships for each schematic item to be captured and imported into the Netbase database.

Network Events

Alarm events are abnormal flow, pressure and level measurements due to equipment failure or incidents.

Alarms are picked up by upper and lower envelopes

Network events are activities and changes that affect the operation of the network.

Events are presented for selected areas and assets within the areas or as a notepad for individual areas.

Levels of Service

The Levels of Service module captures and displays low pressure events and compiles the DG2 register and the GSS events register.

It relates events to pressure bands and to customer delivery points with actions and reasons.

The interface directly accesses network events, customer contacts and jobs in order to provide decision support.

Hydraulic Modelling

The Hydraulic Modelling module is a comprehensive model management tool.

It brings together GIS, Billing, time series data and above ground asset data into network models.

The tools enable models to be created, calibrated, analysed, updated, registered and exported into proprietary software applications.

Resources

The Resources application can be used for monitoring and reporting on abstraction licences.

The licence conditions are entered and related to the abstraction meter points.

The application can be used for monitoring upland reservoir levels and borehole levels in comparison with control curves, previous years' levels and current forecasts.

The records for the relevant non-infrastructure assets needs to be set up in Network Information

Area Performance

The application contains a performance history which comprises the frequencies of events data, such as number of bursts, contacts and water quality failures.

Data can be viewed in both tabular nd graphical format.

The time series analysis, in the application, draws from the performance history and events tables.

The analysis will include rolling averages and trends and can be viewed in both tabular and graphical format.

Asset Performance

This application is for analysing the performance of pipe assets, based on using a 'superlink' analysis.

'Superlinks' are connected pipe groups of the same material, similar size and of a maximum length specified by the user.

Asset observations are derived from the network information and from hydraulic model results. They are applied to each 'superlink'.

The outputs include:

  • A performance or recurrence index
  • A predicted serviceability risk (incl deterioration)

LIMO

The LIMO (Leakage Infrastructure Optimisation Tool) application is an advanced tool for developing business and tactical plans.

The Rehab Model

The actual lengths of pipe are identified for rehab. This is in order to achieve serviceability, at minimum cost, over the predicted time horizon.

Parameters

The parameters comprise:

  • The criteria for the analysis
  • The unit costs and constraints for the analysis

Superlinks Analysis

LIMO reads the table of superlinks, previously analysed for predicted serviceability risk, in the Asset Performance application.

The cost benefits of each superlink to overall serviceability is then estimated and ranked for preparing scheme plans.
